Michael A. Sciortino appointed as Liaison to the Supervising Judges of the Town and Village Courts

The Honorable Michael A. Sciortino has been appointed by the Monroe County Magistrate’s Association as a Liaison to the Supervising Judges of the Town and Village Courts in the Seventh Judicial District, comprising Monroe, Cayuga, Livingston, Ontario, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne and Yates counties. Judge Sciortino will act as a liaison between the town and village courts in Monroe County and the Supervising Judges, Monroe County Court Judge Alex R. Renzi and Monroe County Family Court Judge John J. Rivoli. Chief Administrative Judge Jonathan Lippman, appointed Judge Renzi and Judge Rivoli to supervise efforts to improve the operation of town and village courts in the judicial district based in Rochester, and act as liaisons between local courts, state courts, and localities. Judge Renzi requested the Monroe County Magistrate’s Association appoint a local Town/Village Court Justice to assist Judge Renzi and Judge Rivoli in their mission. This is the first step to put into effect a ten million dollar plan for improving the efficiency and quality of New York's 1,300 justice courts, which handle up to two million cases annually.
